Vardavar or the Transfiguration of Christ is one of the five feasts of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
According to the church calendar, it is celebrated 14 weeks or 98 days after Easter.
Artissimo NGO was not left out of the celebration of another church feast, a feast that is loved and long awaited by adults and children.

On July 19, at the Voskeporik Development Center of Martuni, an event was organized to introduce the children and their parents the main ceremony of Vardavar – “Khndum” with its rituals and dances.

The “Khndum” ceremony had a preparatory period. Prior to Vardavar girls and women used to grow wheat or barley in a round basket or bowl. On the day of the feast, in the afternoon, they used to place a cross-like stick in its center, then decorate it with small cucumbers, apples and roses.

The event was full of interesting activities. The children got familiar with the Armenian tradition and another sacrament of the feast. They decorated the cross-like stick. The day was full of Armenian songs and dances. Children were really happy, they were smiling, singing and dancing.

Another successful day will remain in our memories.
