Let's walk together. About the cooperation of Wigmore Clinic Medical Center and Voskeporik Development Center

Wigmore Clinic is a medical center that provides both inpatient and outpatient services in adult and pediatric orthopedics, sports medicine, spine surgery, rehabilitation and more. Initially aiming to make Armenia a modern center for orthopedics, spine surgery and sports trauma, this center was established in 2015 by Bedo Yeghiayan, founder director of UK-based Wigmore Medical Company, as well as a group of other Armenian Diaspora doctors. This is a unique hospital in the region that's built and equipped, as it was possible to create a laboratory for clinical research of gait in Armenia back in 2017, thanks to the activity of which the functional defects of the locomotor apparatus can be made measurable and the pathologies present in the patient objective. The slogan of the center is “Let's walk together", which means not only to help people with musculoskeletal problems to be more active, but also to encourage a number of charitable organizations, doctors of international reputation to join them and move forward towards the goal of forming the best orthopedic service in Armenia. The realization of this goal, the unique mission that the Voskeporik Development Center has been processing since 2019, united the two organizations and laid the foundation for the path of walking together. The start of multifaceted and very important cooperation was already promising. During their visit to Martuni, Wigmore's leading specialists conducted medical examinations of goldfinches that had not undergone any type of examination for years. Further treatment and health restoration of children was planned, developing an individual treatment plan for each child, showing an individual approach. The pediatricians of the region were not left out of the visit, the pediatricians of Wigmore organized educational lectures, exchange of experience for the pediatricians and family doctors of the Martuni region. Outbound visits were not only continuous, but also covered geography. The clinic also carried out free examinations for children with locomotor problems in the Yeghegnadzor region. The medical staff of Wigmore Clinic examined 53 children. Yeghegnadzor Medical Center made an important contribution to the research by providing X-ray equipment and personnel of the center. Undeterred by this, the first studies of walking continued in Yerevan. A complete diagnostic examination was carried out for the children to fully determine their physical condition and to determine the type and extent of surgery to correct the physical disability and, which was unprecedented for all of us, the first surgery was performed. The doctors' care, responsibility, vigilance and consistency paid off. As a result of a healthy cooperation of about three years, the two organizations united around one idea managed to carry out free medical examinations for 330 children with locomotor problems, as a result of which 23 walking examinations and 18 surgeries were performed. Complex surgery, pre-operative, post-operative and rehabilitation period, the process and development of solving the children's health problems would not have happened if it were not for the trust, strength, willingness of the parents, the dedicated work of the Voskeporik Development Center and especially the warmth and highly professional support of the Wigmore Clinic staff, all the time being by our side, providing us with the latest medical equipment and treatment process. This is a cooperation that enlightens children's childhood, gives children and their parents a sense of security and integrates them into society with one more step.
